New restaurant to open in The Jug

Restaurateur Richie Chavez will open a new restaurant in the space that had housed The Jug restaurant and bar for decades in downtown Belleville.
Chavez has since signed a lease that states that both he and the building owners will renovate the space located on the first floor at 100 N. High St. Chavez said the electrical system is being fixed and the floors in the kitchen and bar areas are being repaired.
He also said his restaurant will have a menu of American and Mexican food.
"We'll have American food, such as burgers and steaks, and the Mexican food we'll have will probably be more authentic Mexican food, not Tex-Mex," Chavez said.
The Jug closed in June. Chavez expects to open his new restaurant by December. No word yet on what the name of the restaurant will be.
